ASHRAE CRC and Region I

The CRC is fundamentally important to ASHRAE's structure and mission for several key reasons:

 

Grassroots Governance: The CRC is the primary mechanism that links local chapters to the broader Society leadership. It ensures that the direction of ASHRAE is guided by the will of its members from the ground up. The votes cast at CRCs directly influence Society policies and bylaws.

 

Developing Future Leaders: By providing accessible, high-quality training, the CRC acts as a vital leadership pipeline. It equips volunteers with the skills needed to run successful chapters, and many who start as chapter officers go on to serve in regional and even Society-level positions.

 

Building Community and Cohesion: The CRC strengthens the bonds between members and chapters within a region. This sense of community is critical for member retention and encourages collaboration, shared identity, and long-term engagement with the Society.

Region 1 is the largest region in ASHRAE based on membership count and comprises of 15 chapters:
