About the CRC

The Chapters Regional Conference (CRC) takes place once every year and rotates through each chapter in Region 1. During this multi-day event members will gather to conduct official Society business including voting on motions and electing regional officers. The conference is packed with activities, featuring a robust technical program with seminars on the latest industry advancements, targeted leadership training for incoming chapter officers, and numerous networking events to foster professional connections

The CRC is fundamentally important to ASHRAE’s structure and mission for several key reasons:

  • Grassroots Governance: The CRC is the primary mechanism that links local chapters to the broader Society leadership. It ensures that the direction of ASHRAE is guided by the will of its members from the ground up. The votes cast at CRCs directly influence Society policies and bylaws.

  • Developing Future Leaders: By providing accessible, high-quality training, the CRC acts as a vital leadership pipeline. It equips volunteers with the skills needed to run successful chapters, and many who start as chapter officers go on to serve in regional and even Society-level positions.

  • Building Community and Cohesion: The CRC strengthens the bonds between members and chapters within a region. This sense of community is critical for member retention and encourages collaboration, shared identity, and long-term engagement with the Society
